The groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing-Ningbo High-speed Railway (the part located in Zhejiang) was held in Hangzhou, Ningbo and Haiyan of Jiaxing yesterday morning. Yuan Jiajun, secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Zhejiang attended the ceremony and announced the start of the construction of the railway. Wang Hao, deputy secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and governor of the People’s Government of Zhejiang also made a speech. Chen Wei, secretary of the CPC Jiaxing Municipal Committee, made a speech at the groundbreaking ceremony of Jiaxing and other leaders of Jiaxing attended the ceremony such as Li Jun, Zhu Miao and Wang Huilin.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Chen Wei reported to Hangzhou the construction situation of this railway (the part located in Jiaxing). With a length of 93 kilometers and a total investment of 39.7 billion yuan, the railway (the part located in Jiaxing) is the largest infrastructure project of Jiaxing; it is Jiaxing’s first north-to-south railway, making Jiaxing a cross-shaped railway hub and providing a strong support for Jiaxing to be built into an important central city of the urban agglomeration of the Yangtze River Delta, said Chen Wei.

Jiaxing would continue to resolutely bear its political responsibilities, implement the work deployment of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province and China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (CR), make no effort to construct well this railway, efficiently settle the problems preventing the construction of the railway, move wire poles and water and gas pipelines, etc., provide construction land, high-efficiency services, funds, workforce and energies for the construction of the railway within scheduled time, cooperate well with the construction units, attach importance to work safety and covid-19 prevention and strictly fulfill all work responsibilities to strive to construct the railway into a quality, safe and corruption-free project, said Chen Wei.

Running from the southeast Jiangsu Province to the northeast Zhejiang Province, this railway starts from Nantongxi Station, across the Yangtze River, through Suzhou City, Jiaxing City and across the Qiantang River, and stops in Ningbo City. Within Jiaxing, it runs through Jiashan, Nanhu, Economic Development Zone of Jiaxing, Xiuzhou and Haiyan and has three stations: Jiashanbei, Jiaxingnan and Haiyan. It is an import part of the national high-speed railway network made up of eight south-to-north and eight east-to-west high-speed railways, an important intercity railway of the urban agglomeration of the Yangtze River Delta and will be of great significance to boosting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and improving regional railway network.
